My heart bleeds with great sadness

At the thought of losing you

My love

My everything

Then life took you away

That day still chills my soul

The phone call that said you were gone

You had battled cancer

Long and hard

The Dr. appointments

The back and forth drive to the hospital

It was a long road

Two years

You even looked like you would win the fight

And

For a while you did

Then the cancer returned

Harder

Stranger

Growing faster

Than before

Instead of trips to the hospital

You started to live there

I came to she you all the time

And was with you for your exams and tests

But no matter what they tried

The cancer kept groing

The doctor called

Said it would not be long

I came

I had to

I could not let you slip away without saying goodbye

That day we talked

Just like old times

Then it hapened

Your breathing slowed

Your eyes began to close

We said we loved each other

Then

You drifted away

I sit upon the couch

One year after that day

It still hurts to know you’re gone

But at least you’re in a better place

I love you now

As I have always loved you
