Walnuts

Walnuts fall upon the ground
Friends and family gather round
To gather the nuts by the load
To get all that we can
So they can be sold

Some we’ll keep for cookies and cakes
Icecream for sure
Muffins, pies, and other sweets

Colleting walnuts has been a yearly tradition
Gathering them up
Selling the lot

The fun in it is merely the chase
Seeing how many you can find
Watching the stack of sacks get larger and larger
As you keep bringing them in
Meeting people as you’re waiting in line
For your load to be weighed
