Joe Part 2

The Pastor a tall slim man by the name of Mark Stevens.   Sandy colored hair cut in a military crew cut style, emerald green eyes.  Suntanned from spending a lot of time in the fields.   Like the people of his church.  He was. A farmer.   Pastor Stevens was also a former soldier in the Army.
Pastor Stevens is in the middle of his sermon about forgiveness when he stops abruptly, looks around nervously,  and says in a low voice "The Devil sits among us today"  then looks over the crowd once more, before continuing with the sermon.
From that day on Joe makes himself useful within the community.   Helping with various fundraisers, volunteering at the library reading stories to the children, and many other activities.   All the while keeping a watch on Mark Stevens, to learn his schedule.
At a church carwash, Mark Stevens approaches Joe and they talk.  Mark can sense that there is something not quite right with Joe.  Mark asks Joe for his last name.  Joe tells him that he doesn't have one.  Stating that after a bad childhood causing him to runaway, he dropped his last name, in order to separate himself from his parents.   Mark hears it, but something in the way Joe tells it.  Makes Mark question the story.  Mark can't explain the feeling, but he feels Joe is older than time itself, Joe is not his real name, Joe means no good.   Mark feels as if Joe either were the devil himself, or in league with him.
The next day.  Mark starts asking questions around town about Joe.  Most of the answers he gets in return are about how Joe helped this person or that person in some way, how Joe volunteers at the local library.  Reading books to kids during story Time, or help put books back where they belong.  Joe has even helped the church for different projects.   However, no matter how much good he heard about Joe.  He still can't shake the feeling that Joe is evil.
One clear blue day, Mark was working in his field.  When suddenly the sky turned pitch black.  A lightening bolt struck the ground in front of Mark.  After his eyes cleared, he noticed Joe standing in front of him.  "I hear you have been asking questions about me.  Careful accidents do happen to those who snoop around."  Mark replied "I know who you are, and what you are.  You don't scare me."  Joe responded with a lunatic laugh, then said "Remember you can run, but you can't hide.  I am the cancer in your life that you can not get rid of.  I will continue eating away at your life, until there is nothing left." then another lightening bolt flash.   Then Joe was gone and the sky cleared up.  Everything was as it was, like nothing happened.
The next Sunday, Pastor Stevens is delivering a powerful message about wolves in sheeps clothing.   At the end of his message Pastor Stevens says "Such a wolf sits among us, right here in this building,  and his name is Joe."  Pastor Stevens points at Joe.  The other members of the church stand up out of their pews, and state how Joe has helped them in some way.   Mark stares in disbelief as one by one his flock turns against him.  Joe meanwhile just sits there with an evil smirk upon his face, and shrugs as if saying "I told you so".
After the service, Mark and his family go to eat at their usual Sunday spot.  They were refused service for the treatment of Joe.  Later in the week.  Their car is repossessed as well as electricity and water shut off.  Mark looks out the window and see Joe laughing like a lunatic. Mark's wife leaves him, and takes the kids with her
