Big round heavy hat bails

Thank goodness the barn set on top of a steep hill 

Made it a lot easier to roll them out

Just unwrap it and let it go

God help us if we had to take it anywhere else.  Yes there were other hills but there was also a lot of flat ground 

You had to push the bail yourself and hoped the hay truck was working 

Or you had a long tiring trek to make

Then there were times we had to push from the start

Push the bail

Twist the  bail

Shove the bail

From time to time we even used the posthole driver to get some leverage 

And if it was snowing or raining 

Good luck

Wet ground and hay don't mix

Slipping and sliding while we got the hay out
