One thousand soldiers
Marched upon the field that day
Upon the land
Upon the air
Upon the ocean waves
Enemy to the left of them
Enemy to their right
Some clearly seen
Some yet out of sight
The thousand fought with courage
They fought with might
They fought for justice
For freedom’s holy light
Yes, one thousand solders
Marched upon the field that day
Now, one thousand bodies
within this ground now lay
