Jesus cursed a fig tree because it had not fruit, and the fig tree withered and died.
We as Christ's followers are charged with a mission to bare fruit for his kingdom. We do this by spreading his word and winning souls for heaven. Those who fail to do their part, no matter how small that part may be. They will end up like the fig tree.
