Hoping

I am standing in the shadows

I have few friends
Mostly I stand alone

I have tried many times
To show you how I feel
I have poured out my heart and soul
You just laugh like it was all a joke
I wrote you poems
Confessing my love
You took those poems
You gave them to the wastebasket
And yet
After all that
I still wish to be with you
Call me a loser if you want
You're right
I lost
I lost my heart
I gave it to you
Though you have rejected it
I don't want it back
You keep it
I stand in the shadows
